The National Institute of Design administers the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT), a national entrance examination, to candidates seeking admission to undergraduate and graduate design programs. Your qualifying for admission is determined by how well you did in the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains, the two parts of the Design Aptitude Test (DAT). The Entrance Exam is for admission to NID’s professional design course programs for Degrees in Bachelor’s and Master’s Program along with Ph.D. Programs.

1. The NID Entrance Exam is separated into two phases: Phase 1 - The NID DAT is a 100-mark test that must be finished in three hours and is normally held in the month of January each year. Through a variety of visual and textual questions, this test will assess an applicant's design problem-solving, visual sense, observation & perception, environmental awareness, mental & communication abilities, and other skills required for Design academics.
2. The NID DAT (Design Aptitude Test) is divided into three stages: Stage 1 (DAT or Design Aptitude Test), Stage 2 (Studio Test), and Stage 3. (Personal Interview).
3. Aspirants will be shortlisted based on their NID DAT(Stage 1) scores. They will receive a call to participate in the Stage 2 Studio Test, which will be followed by a personal interview (Stage 3). The sum total of the weightage scored by the applicant's earned at each step of the admission process will be used to determine the final merit list for admissions.
4. Candidates who fall under the Overseas category and are applying for the B.Des or M.Des must only appear in Ahmedabad for their DAT and the two test (Studio Test & Personal Interview) that follow.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION WHILE UPLOADING DOCUMENTS

Candidates need to keep the below mentioned pointers in mind while uploading photograph and signature for NID admissions 2024.

PHOTOGRAPH

• The photograph must be in colour format and must be taken in a professional studio.
• Photographs must be taken against a white background.
• The photograph must be recent and should have been taken after September 1, 2020.
• Facial features should occupy about 80% of the area in the photograph, with a clear view of the whole face directly looking into the camera. The main features of the face must not be covered by hair of the head, any cloth, or any shadow. The forehead, both eyes, nose, cheeks, lips, and chin should be clearly visible.
• If you wear spectacles, glare on glasses is not acceptable in your photo. Spectacles with dark or tinted glasses are not permitted; only clear glasses are permitted.
• The digital version of your passport size photograph is to be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format, with a maximum size of 50 KB.

SIGNATURE

• The signature must be in black colour only and must be written against a white background.
• The signature must be scanned. Mobile phone photographs of signatures are not acceptable.
• The signature is to be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format, with a maximum size of 50 KB

Aspirants can go through the below mentioned steps to know how they can successfully fill their application form for NID Entrance Exam 2024.

STEP 1: REGISTER FOR NID DAT

To fill NID entrance exam application form, aspirants need to first create a login ID. For doing so, candidates need to provide details such as name, gender, email address, educational qualification, mobile number, date of birth, nationality and reservation category.

Candidates need to ensure that the email ID and mobile number provided by them to create the NID login ID has been functional for at least a year.

STEP 2: FILL NID ENTRANCE EXAM 2024 APPLICATION FORM

When aspirants complete the signup process, they will have to login to their NID admission account by using the email ID and date of birth mentioned by them at the time of signup. Candidates need to ensure that the email ID mentioned by them has been active for at least an year. Once this is done, candidates can access NID DAT application form. STEP 3: SELECT NID COURSE

In the application form for NID admission process 2024, aspirants are given the choice to select two disciplines in which they want to apply for admission. NID’s official website explains the same by stating: “For applicants applying to undergraduate programmes, Please make a choice for the specific programme – (i) only BDes (ii) only GDPD (iii) both BDes and GDPD. Please note that once the payment formalities are completed, this choice cannot be altered”. On the other hand, in MDes application form for NID admissions, aspirants need to select MDes course in the application form.

STEP 4: UPLOAD PHOTOGRAPH & SIGNATURE

After filling all the details in NID application form, candidates need to save their admission form. Next, candidates need to upload important documents like their photograph and signature with their NID entrance exam application form. Candidates need to upload their photograph and signature in their online NID application form as per the below mentioned format and size:

STEP 5: PAY NID DAT APPLICATION FEE

Next, candidates need to pay the exam fee for NID Entrance Exam 2024. Candidates can pay the NID application fee for admissions 2024-24 either online (by means of Credit/Debit Card) or offline (through Demand Draft). After paying NID exam application fee, candidates will not be able to make any changes to their NID application form.

STEP 6: PRINT NID APPLICATION FORM

After NID application fee is successfully paid by candidates they will be directed to the ‘Print’ section. Here, aspirants have to take a clear print of their NID entrance exam application form. Candidates are also advised to save a copy of their application form for NID admissions in PDF format.

Candidates who are paying the application fee through DD need to send the duly filled application form along with their DD in a single envelope.

Candidates can pay NID DAT application fee online or offline. The application fee for NID can be paid online by means of a Credit/ Debit Card. On the other hand, aspirants can pay NID application fee offline through Demand Draft (DD). The DD needs to be drawn in favour of 'All India Management Association' such that it is payable at New Delhi. Candidates who opt to pay the application fee through DD need to take a clear printout of their NID application form and submit the same along with their DD through speed post or courier at the below mentioned address:
