NIFT EXAM SYLLABUS
GENERAL ABILITY TEST ( GAT ) FOR BACHELOR OF DESIGN ( B.Design ) & MASTER OF DESIGN ( M.Design )
This Test will comprise of various section as given below:

  1. Quantitative Ability
  2. Communication Ability
  3. English Comprehension
  4. Analytical Ability
  5. General Knowledge & Current Affairs

The number of questions may vary in each section year to year
  1. Quantitative Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub test consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work & Task, Ratio & Proportion and Distance.
  2. Communication Ability: This sub-test is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day to day communication in English. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms & phrases, correct spellings, etc.
  3. English Comprehension: This sub-test is to test one's ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage & test of basic English language.
  4. Analytical Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate's inference & logic from the given information.
  5. General Knowledge & Current Affairs: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate's general knowledge & current affairs.

Creative ability Test ( CAT ): This test is administered to judge the intuition skill, power of observation, innovation in development of a concept & design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative & innovative medium use of colour & illustration skills.

GENERAL ABILITY TEST ( GAT ) FOR BACHELOR OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY ( B.F.Tech) , MASTER OF FASHION MANAGEMENT(MFM), MASTER OF DESIGN (M.Des.) & MASTER OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY (M.F.Tech). This Test will comprise of various section as given below:
  1. Quantitative Ability
  2. Communication Ability & English Comprehension
  3. Analytical & Logical Ability
  4. General Knowledge & Current Affairs
  5. Case Study
  6. Quantitative Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub test consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work & Task, Ratio & Proportion and Distance.

  8. Concepts & practice of creative & lateral thinking are likely to be useful.
  9. General Knowledge & Current Affairs: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate's general knowledge & current affairs.
  10. Case Study: This sub-test is based on a situation of an industry environment. It helps to evaluate the candidate's managerial ability.

M.F.Tech will also have some questions from engineering field. The number of questions may vary in each section & for each course year to year. The level of difficulty in questions for all courses will vary. Short listed candidates from the written entrance examination are required to undergo Situation Test / Group Discussion ( GD ) / Interview as applicable ( except B.F.Tech ).

SITUATION TEST
Shortlisted Candidates for B.Des from the written entrance examination are required to undergo a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate's skills for material handling & innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials.

GROUP DISCUSSIONS
Shortlisted Candidates for Masters Programs from the written entrance examination are required to undergo Case Studybased Group Discussions (GD) & Personal Interview ( PI ). GD would comprise of approximately 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on a case study assigned on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on the following parameters:
  1. Conceptual Clarity
  2. Knowledge of the topic assigned
  3. Contribution made to the topic
  4. Interpersonal skills
  5. Ability to generate new ideas
  6. Problem solving approach
  7. Leadership qualities
  8. Effective Communication
PERSONAL INTERVIEW
A candidate is judged on the various parameters during individual personal interview by a panel, as listed below:
  • Career Orientation
  • Aptness for the field
  • Overall personal achievements in academics & co-curricular activities
  • Communication
  • General Awareness & Aptitude, creative & lateral thinking are likely to be useful

The Syllabus is as follow .
Part – I Awareness of persons, places, Buildings, Materials.) Objects, Texture related to Architecture and build~environment. Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings. Visualising. different sides of three dimensional objects. Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Visual, Numerical and Verbal).
Part – II Three dimensional – perception: Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, building forms and elements, colour texture, harmony and contrast. Design and drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil. Transformation of forms both 2 D and 3 D union, substraction, rotation, development of surfaces and volumes, Generation of Plan, elevations and 3 D views of objects. Creating two dimensional and three dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms. Sketching of scenes and activities from memory of urbanscape (public space, market, festivals, street scenes, monuments, recreational spaces etc.), landscape (river fronts, jungles. gardens, tre es, plants etc.) and rural life

Question : - I M PERSUING DIPLOMA ENGG FROM AMU. BUT AS PER MY KNOWLEDGE. I DONT KNOW HOW TO TAKE ADMISSION THROUGH NATA RANK. FOR EXAMPLE I HAVE GOT 300 RANK THEN HOW NATA CONTACT ME. OR HOW CAN I CHOOSE COLLEGES IN INDIA THROUGH NATA.?

NATA is an examination which is compulsory for students who wants to take admission in B. ARCHITECTURE. You have to apply for admission in various colleges after getting NATA score. MAY-JUNE are the tentative month for applying to various colleges with NATA score

Hi, Priyanka any person having passed SSC (StdX) or equivalent examination can appear for NATA, however, candidates having minimum 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination with mathematics as one of the subject , only are eligible for admission to B.Arch course.
